Chandelier made of bones!

If you need a little taste of the macabre, then you want to check out one of the latest posts on this blog: World’s most macabre chandelier . Here you will find the eery tale of a church located in the Czech Republic. Long ago the church was being restored, right on top of an old cemetery. They didn’t know what to do with the remains, so they were stacked up in the chapel until someone could figure out what to do with them. Someone did, and the result hundreds of years later is a chandelier that is made of entirely human bones. You will see garlands with skulls (yes, plural) attached to each end of the arms of the chandelier.
The suggestion is that this arrangement of bones is to create harmony among the people and to give us the opportunity to appreciate life. This is interesting and almost poetic. How else would we appreciate our mortality without being reminded of the ultimate outcome. Of course, as with taxes, only one else is guaranteed in this life. And I agree that anyone that had to be faced with something as creepy as this would have to agree that you would certainly live life to the fullest with this macabre reminder. Don’t believe me? You have to see it for yourself, the chandelier made up of only human bones. There really is at least one each of all of the human bones in the body on this piece, and in some cases, like the skulls, there are several.

If you are an antique lover then this blog will be of real value to you — doorknobs. This blog is dedicated to the lovers of antique furniture and “brings original old lighting and door hardware out of the realms of Sunday visits to the auctions”. A look at a sample post “Tooth…String…Doorknob” is a classic example of this. The author begins describing about the, you know, tooth-string-doorknob thing that your mom always threatened you with when you are going through that teeth removal stage. Well, on this post you will see delightful tidbits on that thought with a full launch into discourse on the beauty of glass doorknobs.
With two established authors on this blog, one a freelance writer and another a published book writer and journalist, it should not take long for this blog to hit it off well. The blog mixes a sweet juxtaposition of the beauty of the old with the uniqueness of every day life, and offers a wealth of categories for the antique officianado – Architectural Salvage, Do It Yourself, Door Furniture, Famous Door Knockers, Lighting, Must see Places, and News. The only recommendation I would offer at this point is some more frequent postings, as antique lovers do not satisfy their cravings with mere tidbits. Overall however, this is a well constructed and excellently written blog that should do very well.
